Edwards and Company provides Student Accident Insurance including Catastrophic coverage for pre-k through 12th grade as well as for Colleges and Universities. We provide Sports Accident, Student Health Plans, and Travel Accident policies for Colleges and Universities as well.
Student Accident Insurance for the pre-K through 12th grade students provides protection for New York students enrolled in districts and private schools. Injuries covered include injuries during school sponsored activities, sports programs, fields trips, and altercations between students.
Most Student Accident Plans are FULL EXCESS – which means they pay secondary to the student’s primary health plan unless the student is not covered, has Medicaid, has Child Health Plus, or has a Union Plan – at which time the Student Accident plan would become the primary payor.
Student Accident Insurance helps to reduce the frequency of lawsuits against a General Liability policy. An increased number of lawsuits will result in higher costs to the school over time.
Catastrophic Student Accident coverage up to limits of $5,000,000 per participant, per claim. With additional benefits available for Catastrophe Cash in the event a student suffers a covered injury that causes a total paralysis, coma or brain death with 6 months from the date of accident.
Intercollegiate, Club, and Intramural Sports Accident Plans are an important coverage in protecting the college and the health and welfare of the student athletes. Sports Accidents Plans are written with various benefit options depending on affiliations with sports associations (NCAA, NJCAA, NAIA) and the college’s needs.
Health Insurance
Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plans are available with major markets in the health care insurance industry. There are many different plan designs that can be uniquely designed to meet the needs of the college and it student population which follow the mandates and requirements under the Affordable Care Act.
Travel Medical Insurance designed for traveling outside of the United States. This travel protection is geared toward students, business travelers, study abroad, and tourists. This coverage proves to be very important as most group and individual health plans sold in the US provide very limited (if any) coverage while traveling outside of the US. Also, this coverage includes emergency medical evacuation and repatriation benefits back to the US. There is also an Emergency Assistance Travel company to assist with any medical or emergency situation and includes perks such as emergency cash advance, lost baggage, as well as other benefits.
